Schumer Leads the Charge as Phil Bredesen’s Allies Rail Against Trump’s SCOTUS Nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh

Chuck Schumer

As Tennessee Star readers surely know by now, it was liberal Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer who personally recruited Phil Bredesen to run against Rep. Marsha Blackburn in the coming U.S. Senate election. And it’s that same Schumer who is now leading the charge  in an attempt to derail President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

Schumer lays out path to block Kavanaugh

Senate Democrats can successfully orchestrate the rejection of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Tuesday morning, if they can convince the American people that his confirmation will lead to the undoing of abortion rights and the Affordable Care Act by the Supreme Court.

“Let me say this. I believe if we can prove to the American people, which I believe is truly the case, that this nominee will lead to a court that repeals women’s reproductive freedom, repeals ACA with its protections for pre-existing conditions, we will get a majority of the Senate to vote for it,” Schumer told “CBS This Morning” when asked how he might block Kavanaugh’s confirmation. “Obviously, even if we had every Democrat, we need two Republicans. But if we can make that case, we will get a majority.”

Schumer also immediately took to Twitter last night to  let his opposition be known.

Another Democrat star and would be friend of Bredesen were he to reach the Senate next year, Sen. Kamala Harris, went so far as to completely reject a courtesy call from the white House on Kavanaugh’s behalf. These are the very same people Phil Bredesen will be locking arms with in the senate if he gets there.

Sen. Kamala Harris’ office bluntly rejected a courtesy call from the White House in the run-up to Monday’s Supreme Court nomination, according to a senior White House aide.

According to the account, the Democratic California senator’s office told White House Counsel Don McGahn, “We want nothing to do with you.”

The senator’s office has since denied saying that. Asked about the claim, her office confirmed that the senator’s chief of staff, though not Harris, spoke with a McGahn aide — but denied the quote.

One can go down the list of Democrats who support Bredesen, see where they stand on an excellent SCOTUS nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, to know precisely why he doesn’t fit the prevailing mold to be the next U.S. Senator from Tennessee.
